SUGGESTIONS FOR THE HOLIDAYS.
By Editor
The holiday season is just before us, and, ere we are aware, will be upon us. As usual, the season will be marked by the giving and receiving of gifts among relatives and friends. At such times there are always perplexities as to what the gift shall be. The thoughtful, loving father or mother or friend will wish to make a gift lasting, beneficial, and beautiful. What could better meet these requisites and be more acceptable than a good book? We say “good book,” for there are many bad books; and many, many persons are as truly diseased in imagination and mind and soul from the poison of their mental pabulum as are the thousands physically diseased from unwholesome foods, intoxicating drinks, and the use of narcotic poisons. “But,” you ask, “what shall we select for our friends, for our children?” We will help you all we can. We have made a careful selection of books and booklets—religious, descriptive, historical, biographical, poetical—books of beauty and worth. Descriptions of these will be found on the second and third pages of our cover. Look them over and make your selections. Cultivate a taste for good reading in your children by presenting them for their own library some of these valuable books.
