SABBATH EVENING REFLECTIONS.

When the evening shadows lengthen, And the peace of day’s no more, I sit in the purple twilight And count my blessings o’er.
His loving voice still calls me, When so oft I’ve gone astray; His gentle hand has led me Through this blessed Sabbath day.
He gives me food and raiment, And I know His tender care; He gives no tasks or trials I am too weak to bear.
More fair than the beautiful sunshine To light this sin-cursed earth, I behold that bright light gleaming That dawned at the Saviour’s birth.
And of all the countless blessings, Bestowed so full and free, The one I count the chiefest Is the Word of God to me.
