Anarchy

A writer in the Christian Work suggests that “Anarchists, having once committed murder, bear about the same relation to society that a mad dog does, and have had to be treated accordingly.” The writer further says: “It has been suggested that a man ought to be shot as soon as he is known to be an Anarchist; but that treatment is not likely to receive the approval of thinking men and women. Society has determined in a large portion of the globe that leprosy shall be confined to certain localities, and Anarchists, who are in some respects more dangerous than the above class of unfortunates, ought to be treated in a similar manner. One way to attain the desired end is thought to be by deportation, a certain island to be selected by an international convention, then every nation to arrest known Anarchists and ship them to that spot.” But the difficulty will lie in the fact that no island is large enough for the experiment. Sin and rebellion against God will breed rebellion and anarchy against and in civil government. Discontent breeds anarchy, and will continue to do so as long as present operating causes exist. The world is in rebellion against God. Many of the Lord’s professed followers are spiritual anarchists, stabbing at His government and law. And such a world is the best possible ground for rearing to ripest fruitage the baneful plants of crime, nihilism, and anarchy.
