EDITIONS of the “Desire of Ages” will be published in the United States and England on the above date. The “Desire of Ages” is a large volume of nearly 900 royal octavo pages. It is written by Mrs. E. G. White, author of several well-known and valuable works, as well as a regular contributor to this paper. In one sense her book is a Life of Christ and His apostles, but it is far more than any mere biographical sketch—it is a use of the incidents in these lives to illustrate the principles of true Christianity. Its whole object is to show that in Christ the love of the Father is revealed, and that we may live the life He lived if we rightly connect with the same Source of power. The early life of Christ, His surroundings in Nazareth, His example in the home, His persecution by would-be teachers, His first experience in the temple, His gradual conception of His mission to this world, etc., etc., are described in a way that will not only deeply interest children and youth but arouse in their minds a desire to follow in His steps. Parents and teachers will find in other chapters that which will be invaluable to them. Christ was the greatest teacher the world ever knew, and the author shows that “the children of our hearths are as much the purchase of His blood as were the children of long ago.” Are you sick and suffering? or poor and discouraged? If so, you will find the “Desire of Ages” a “volume of comfort.” The illustrations number about 300 in all, and are nearly all original. They represent two years’ study and supervision on the part of our art director, Mr. W. A. Reaser, of New York City, and are beautiful and appropriate. They must be seen to be appreciated. The paper on which this volume is printed has been made to order, and is especially adapted to the printing of fine engravings. The sewing is done on tapes the same as an office ledger, and is therefore just as strong, and at the same time flat-opening. The bindings are attractive and very durable. “Desire of Ages” will be sold by subscription, but if there is no agent in your vicinity, and you want a copy, write to us and we will see that you are supplied. Advance orders received to date (October 13) amount to 2,500 copies. Cloth, marbled edges . . . . . $3 50
