THE BETTER WAY.

Do not harshly judge thy neighbor, Do not be too quick to blame; Better far that each should labor To uphold the other's name.
Has one sinned? Then let's be showing How for him the Saviour died; Point him to the fountain flowing, Help him reach the cleansing tide.
Has the cruel tongue of slander Gathered from the misty past Some suspicion, thus to pander To a base, deluded taste?
Must we herald every failing Of some fellow-mortal, weak, Wound his heart, nor heed his wailing? O, 'twere better ne'er to speak!
No! let's seek the fount of healing, Bid its waters o'er us roll, Till a tender, Christly feeling Floods and penetrates the soul, Till we feel an anxious yearning Over those who fail and fall, Till within each heart is burning Christ-like love for one and all.
