Fashion Plates and Wasp Waists

“Reproduction prohibited,” we read the other day under a Paris fashion-plate, in which tall women of wasp waists were the principal things in evidence. We wished that it were true: that a reproduction of like garments and like figures might be prohibited forever. Of course if the model were strictly followed in all the world by all the women whom God has wisely made otherwise, the race would soon run out, and the law would exact its own penalty. Anyhow, we thought it a better motto than the publisher designed.
