It Seems Incredible

It seems incredible, but nevertheless as trustworthy a paper as the New York World informs us that Michael Hart, of that city, was recently brought before the police court charged with attempting to pawn his three-year-old baby for liquor. The record states that he was an industrious and well-behaved man till he took to drinking. This is only one of the many examples of the appalling depths to which mankind has fallen. And he who is not blind to glaring facts knows that depraved humanity is rapidly growing worse.
