The Kingdom of God

“The Kingdom of God.”—One subject perhaps more misunderstood than all other Scripture subjects is that of the kingdom of God. It is many-sided and all-comprehensive. Here is one phase which all may understand, and it is a good beginning in the study of the subject. Jesus said to the Pharisees, “The kingdom of God is within you.” God made man’s body to be a temple, a dwelling-place, for the Spirit of God. He created man; He bought man back from sin and death, and man belongs to Him. Man is His territory. “Know ye not that ye are the temple of God?” But God will not by His Spirit occupy that temple or reign in that territory without your consent. He wishes you to surrender to Him your heart’s affections, your mental powers, your body, and ask Him to come in and rule. Unless you do thus surrender, you do not truly pray the prayer, “Thy kingdom come.” To be of value to you it must come first in your own life.
