GERIZIM

IN thy shadow, mount of blessing, I would pitch my tent for rest, Happy on my way, confessing Him whose beauty crowns thy crest. Golden stairways seem descending From the canopies above; Come, sweet messengers, befriending, From the throne of Him we love.
Did the tribes in vision tarry For thy benediction sweet? Lighter burdens did they carry? Quicker were their pilgrim feet? Happy voices from the brightness, Falling as the mountain spray, As a cloud of silver whiteness— Didst thou cheer them all the way?
I have seen thee; holy mountain, I have found my Gerizim; Blessing as a living fountain, Yes, as I believe in Him, Only Him who loved me, leading Through the wilderness my feet; Only Him who, interceding, Won me to His rest complete.
—Rev. Dwight Williams, in Christian Advocate.
