Receive Ye the Holy Ghost
By Editor
“Receive ye the Holy Ghost.” This was the message of Jesus to His disciples in the upper chamber. “Receive ye the Holy Ghost” has been Christ’s message to His church through all the centuries; for one of the blessed promises which He left His children is: “I will pray the Father, and He shall give you another Comforter, that He may abide with you forever.” But pre-eminently the message, “Receive ye the Holy Ghost,” is for the people of God to-day. God would unite all His true children into one. He would heal all divisions. He would blot out all human creeds by the glory of His holy Word. He would purge the church of dross and refine her graces as silver is refined. He would prepare her for His kingdom and the wedding feast which is to usher in a glad eternity. And the one agency by which He does all this and more, is the Holy Spirit, the blessed Comforter. “Receive ye the Holy Ghost,” says the Master. Why do not Christians receive it? Why is it that Christians in general are so barren of the Spirit, as shown in the lack of the fruits of the Spirit, and by the fruitlessness of Christian effort? Well, there are reasons and reasons for it all. There are conditions to be complied with. But there are no obstacles but what may be removed. And the SIGNS OF THE TIMES will endeavor to tell every reader how he may receive the blessed Spirit of God. Read the articles on life in its various phases appearing on page 6 of this paper.
