A Dog’s Funeral

“Without are dogs,” we are told of the beautiful city of God, the metropolis of the earth made new. A Mr. Chevalier, of Columbus, O., has been refused permission to bury the body of his pet dog “Diana” in the city cemetery. Mr. Chevalier has the dog’s body in “a beautiful white coffin with a silver nameplate, has crape on the front door, and has closed his place of business until after the funeral. When burial takes place, there will be a funeral oration by a fellow dog fancier.” But what a more blessed thing it would have been to have expended the money the beautiful white coffin cost in the relief of some of the poor children of Cincinnati!
