The Greater War

The Greater War.—Papers, religious as well as secular, give much attention to war news, and the various characters which figure therein. But, reader, do not allow your mind to be filled with these things. There is a greater warfare now being waged than ever occurred between the nations of earth. The captain of one host is Satan, the prince of the powers of darkness, and the leader of the other host is Jesus Christ, the Prince of Righteousness and Life. Associated with Satan are the demons of darkness, once among the angels of God, and evil men. Associated with Christ Jesus are the angels of good, and those actuated by the Spirit of Christ. The battles are not fought with carnal weapons, but spiritual. The territory where wages the fiercer strife is not the blood-soaked soil of the “Pearl of the Antilles,” but the human heart. Christ wants to free your heart, and soul, and body from the intolerable bondage of sin; Satan would keep you in bondage, and, at last, forever lock you up in the prison-house of the grave. God calls you through Christ Jesus to liberty, to victory. His book of orders is the Bible. Look to Him, and through Him reign; for “better” is “he that ruleth his spirit than he that taketh a city,” let that city be Havana or Manila.
