In All Not a Tithe.

—The Advance, of Chicago, believes that next to the Moravians the Congregationalists are the largest givers in the United States, but they fall far short of contributing a tithe. It estimates from different sources that the tithe should be $22,050,000 annually, whereas actual contributions in 1897 were a little less than $9,000,000. In referring to all Christians it says: “And if the 25,000,000 church-members in the United States should give a tithe of income, the grand total would be $750,000,000.” But the contributions ought to be much more than that. “The tithe is the Lord’s.” It belongs to Him. Withholding it is “robbery.” Mal. 3:8-10. There are many Christians who do pay tithe and give from one-fourth to one-half more. There are many professed Christians who pay nothing or give nothing. Jesus Christ gave all.
