THE COMING DAWN.

“The night is far spent; the day is at hand.” Rom. 13:12.
I’ve watched and waited, tho the night is long, And, O, so dark, I sometimes miss my way! My eyes are often dim, too dim to see The promises that herald in the day.
But I remember, when my doubts are shaped, And cling like specters of a hope long dead, There was a darker night, and One who watched With a world’s sin upon His sinless head.
And I was there. I helped to form the tears That nature forced through every bleeding pore. Yes, I remember, and I strive to cry, “When will the darkness flee and night be o’er?”
When will the light appear? O Jesus, when Will thy long-looked-for presence greet our sight? When will the day in all its glory dawn, To scatter the last shadow of the night?
