Church Membership and Sanctified Life

THE Christian Work wishes that it might be realized “that the church-membership needs the preaching of a saving Gospel just as much as outside sinners do. Assuredly, it does need it. We do not know what is seen by the eye of Omniscience, as He scans the membership of the churches. But we do know that church-membership and a sanctified life are not interchangeable terms.” And the Christian Work quotes two “noted evangelists” as saying: “Not one church-member in ten will ever get to heaven;” and “only one church-member in seven is a genuine Christian.” Read in connection with these utterances, the Lord’s predictions of these times in Matt. 24:12; 2 Tim. 3:1-5.
