RALLY ’ROUND THE ENSIGN.
By John McCarthy
“O, rally ’round the Ensign,”
Ye Christians, great and small;
The conflict fierce is waging;
Let not the banner fall!
The whole world now is watching
Your action in the fight;
Then will you to the battle?
Go forth in Jesus’ might. “O, rally ’round the Ensign!”
The foe is pressing sore;
For truth our faithful brethren
Their blood do freely pour.
Shall ye as cowards linger,
Despising God’s command?
Or will ye ’neath the Ensign
For Jesus take your stand?” “O, rally ’round the Ensign!”
The fight is hottest there;
The enemy would lower
Our colors, but your care
Must be to lift them higher.
Stand by, be firm and true,
As zealous, earnest watchmen,
Who well their duty do. “O, rally ’round the Ensign!”
The hosts of sin assail;
Alone by trusting Jesus
Can ye o’er them prevail.
Their ranks are numbered legion,
And still they swell each hour;
But yet you can, confiding,
Them vanquish—by God’s power.
