Our First-Page Illustration.
We know that our readers will say that our first-page illustration is one of the most beautiful and realistic pictures of the sanctuary, Sinai, and camp of Israel they ever saw; and it is but just to give its origin. The cut is from a photograph of Prof. J. W. Kelchner’s model of the tabernacle of Israel, in the foreground, with Hill’s panorama of Mount Sinai and the camp of Israel, painted at a cost of $4,000. The tabernacle is a beautiful model, made according to Biblical measurements and proportions as far as it is possible to determine, and of the same material of which the ancient sanctuary and furniture was composed. Years of labor and thousands of dollars have been expended upon it. Other views will be given in future numbers. Those who desire to obtain the photographs themselves can do so by addressing Prof. J. W. Kelchner, 212 East Fortieth Street, Chicago, Ill. The smaller consist of a set of seven photos 5x8½ inches, and the larger of a set of four photos 14x20 inches. We do not know the retail price. They are beautiful and instructive pictures.
