Wealth and Poverty

Wealth and Poverty are the two extremes of social life which are ever drifting wider apart, arousing contempt on the part of many of the wealthy (thank God, not all) for the poor, and envy and bitterness on the part of the poor (but not all) toward the rich. This latter feeling is accentuated by the foolish and extravagant outlay on the part of many of the wealthy. For instance, it is reported that a wealthy woman of St. Louis has had placed in the ears of her pet cat diamond earrings. The money expended for these would, doubtless, if properly expended, have saved some family from starvation in that city this very winter. O reader, have you wealth and comfort, it is given you of God; use it for His poor!
