PEACE

BY MRS. M. R. DIEFENDORF.
How can I hunger? There is bread Enough, and yet to spare; No mortal such a feast can spread, No human skill prepare.
How can I thirst? There is a cup Of rare and costly wine— A ransom Jesus offered up For just such needs as mine.
How can I fall when His dear arm Is underneath me lain, Or, overcome with dread alarm, Shrink from the touch of pain?
How can I sink, tho storms increase And darkness shrouds the sea? “Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed on Thee.”
—New York Observer.
