British Naval Estimates

It is proposed according to the new British naval estimates to have 154,575 men available to man the fleet, of whom 118,625 should be on the active list, and 35,950 on the reserve list. The government will ask for $43,830,000 to be appropriated for the building of new war ships. One thing that is regarded as making the English fleet weak just now is the type of boiler in use throughout the fleet. It is proposed to have the entire fleet renovated, and a new type of boiler substituted for the old.
