Transmigration of Soul in America

It is told as a fact that Mrs. Henry K. Gilette, of Vestal Center, N. Y., believes that the soul of her sister who is dead has taken up its abode in a maltese cat. The cat is given a bedroom and double bed, as good as in the house, all to herself, has a chair and plate at table, and is considered as much as a cat could be a member of the family. Mrs. Gilette is a well-educated woman of thirty-five. Before her sister died, three years ago, she told Mrs. Gilette she would enter the cat, so as to be near her. Since then the disposition of the kitten completely changed, being much more quiet and intelligent. This is theosophy. The Word of God is, “The dead know not anything.” “His breath goeth forth, he returneth to his earth; in that very day his thoughts perish.” “His sons come to honor, and he knoweth it not.” “Neither have they a portion forever in anything that is done under the sun.” He who believes God’s Word can never believe in a human cat or a feline woman. Such are Satan’s deceptions to deceive the world, and to degrade God in the minds of men. How much better is the hope of life through Jesus and the resurrection!
