Protection of Men, Not Institutions

LET it ever be borne in mind that legal protection to an institution is not protection to men. It is a government’s highest duty to protect its subjects, but not their religious beliefs, dogmas, or institutions. When men’s rights are justly and equally guarded, they can ask no more.
