The Father’s Reward for Faithful Service
By H. A. Boardman
LISTEN, ye who are striving to subdue your own vagrant passions, ye who are mourning over sin, ye who are doing good in secret, ye who are patient under wrong, ye who are bearing affliction without repining, ye who are dedicating your personal efforts to the cause of Christ—this scripture has its balm and its encouragement for you all: “If any man serve me, him will my Father honor.” Toil on, suffer on. His eye is upon you. His pen records your every act and word, your every pang and aspiration. And when at length the day of reckoning comes, you will forget the trials of the way in the fruition of that “exceeding and eternal weight of glory” with which God will requite the poor service you have rendered your Saviour.—H. A. Boardman, D.D.
