THE BEAUTIFUL CITY.

BY A. R. WILCOX.
THERE'S a beautiful city up yonder, ’tis said, Where the beams of God's glory forever are shed, And the streets of pure gold that reflect to the sight The image fair of the mansions of light.
And the walls are of jewels so rich and so rare That the treasures of earth can nothing compare, And the gates are of pearl—O, what glory and song Will ascend to the Builder thro’ all the day long!
I can see life's pure stream that onward doth glide, With the tree that blooms there in healing applied, And the saints who have gather’d in the evergreen bowers, With their harps strung to music far sweeter than ours.
O, the melody rich that fills with delight, And that bears me away as on wings in its flight! How it speaks of that land in the breath of the song, And it tells of the city I’ve heard of so long!
