LITERARY NOTICES.

“Echoes from Student Life,” by L. H. Christian, is a neatly printed, paper-covered book of 32 pages, consisting of seven poems, shorter and longer. To say that there is no poetic merit in the little book would not be to do it justice; but all rhymes are not poetry. One of the worst things about such publications is that the flattery of indiscriminating friends inclines to make the author believe that his work possesses more merit than it really does. We hope it may not be so in this case. It may be obtained from the author for ten cents. His address is College View, Neb.
One of our bright and useful exchanges is the Housekeeper, which has been published for twenty years at Minneapolis, Minn. It is the only “domestic” semimonthly journal published. Its price is $1.00 a year. Under its present management,—Mrs. Effie W. Merriman, editor,—it has greatly improved. Specimen copies can be had on application.
