Morse Between Two Fires

ACCORDING to the Christian Cynosure, Congressman Morse, of Massachusetts, is in a position between two fires. He is the lower House champion of the proposed religious amendment to the Constitution, and the Cynosure says “he is an active A. P. A., as well as Freemason.” This, in face of the fact that the supreme president of the A. P. A. has issued a circular warning the order to oppose the amendment, places the congressman in a rather illogical situation, if he continues in active support of the order. The aforesaid circular denounces the amendment as “a remarkable and dangerous proposal to place the affairs of state in the hands of the church.”
