CHRIST IS COMING.

[Arranged by C. P. Whitford. Tune, “Minnie Minton.”]
Christ is coming; let creation Bid her groans and travail cease; Let the glorious proclamation Hope restore and faith increase. Earth can now but tell the story Of thy bitter cares and pains; She shall yet behold thy glory When thou comest back to reign.
Chorus:—
O Saviour, dear Saviour, Blessed Saviour, hearts are longing For thy presence here below; Hasten, Lord, thy second coming, Come, and take thy children home.
Long thy exiles have been pining, Far from rest, and home, and thee; But in heavenly vesture shining Soon they shall thy glory see. With that “blessed hope” before us, Let no harp remain unstrung, Let the mighty advent chorus Onward roll from tongue to tongue.
Christ is coming, yes, he's coming; O, be ready for his call At the midnight or the dawning, Or when evening shadows fall! Of the day and hour we know not— Yet this thought shall comfort men, To receive us into glory Will our Saviour come again.
Christ is coming, yes, he's coming; His sure promise never fails; He will then release his people From the chain-gang and the jails. How they long to see him coming; Then no more they'll be oppressed; For the Saviour will be ruler In that land of peace and rest!
We shall see our Saviour’s coming With the angels bright and fair; Then we'll shout his praise and glory As we meet him in the air. On a cloud we'll see him coming— O my brethren, watch and pray; Soon you'll enter, if you're faithful, Into realms of perfect day!
Christ is coming, surely coming; Roll the notes of joy on high; Every blood-washed saint of Jesus Rally to your Leader's cry. Yes, our blessed Lord is coming; Swell the glad triumphant song; Let it echo through the nations That the time will not be long.
