Frankness: Why Sunday Laws Are Religious

Frankness.—In discussing the foes of Sunday the Christian Advocate thus puts the reason for Sunday laws:—

“Why close anything on one day in seven which is allowed to be open on other days?—Because it is Sunday, and the state needs Sunday.”

Exactly, “because it is Sunday.” But what difference between Sunday and other days of the week? Why, Sunday is a religious day. There is no other reason. Sunday laws are therefore religious laws.
