A Proper Step.

After the death of Charles Spurgeon, Dr. A. T. Pierson, the noted Presbyterian minister, supplied the Tabernacle pulpit for two years. Many of the congregation desired him to remain, Presbyterian tho he was; and it was then reported that he was about to be baptized. This Dr. Pierson denied, and declared that he would live and die in the Presbyterian Church. Even then many desired him to act, among them James A. Spurgeon. However, Thomas Spurgeon was chosen pastor. Now the news comes that Dr. Pierson has been baptized, and that James A. Spurgeon administered the ordinance. This is good. It is just such a step as we should expect Dr. Pierson to take, when the light came to him. The next step, we hope he will sometime take, will be to turn from the Sunday of tradition to the Sabbath of the Lord.
