German and Swedish Bibles.

There are various translations of Bibles in all languages, and some are better than others. Our attention has just been called to the American Bible Society German Bible, and its translation of Matt. 28:1; Mark 16:1, 2; Luke 24:1, etc., in which the word which should be rendered “week,” and is so translated in our English version, is rendered “sabbaths.” The translation is erroneous, as is also that of the Swedish Bible, published by the same house. In the Swedish Bible there is absolute corruption of the text in the rendering of kuriakē hēmera (Lord’s day) by the term “Sunday.”
Better translations in the above languages are those published by the International Bible Agency, 150 Fifth Avenue, New York. The Hamburg German Bible is also a faithful translation in the above particulars.
