Thus will we be free; “for he that is called in the Lord, being a servant [slave], is the Lord’s freeman; likewise also he that is called, being free, is Christ’s servant.” 1 Cor. 7:22. But his service is the service of freedom. It is freedom from sin, freedom from bondage. Even in chains the Christian is free in all the freedom of God’s boundless love. Man can not take it away. He may endeavor to; he may for a little while disturb its fullness, but it is eternal. The freedom which Christ gives is evermore gloriously endless. Have you it?—Stand fast. If not, seek it in him.
