Truly Living.

—As we live by him, the Lord wishes us to know him; for to know him is life eternal. The Lord wishes us to realize that he is not far from every one of us. And when we recognize this closeness of God to us, and the fact that he is the fountain of life, when, instead of using his marvelous gifts as though they belonged to us by our own right, to fulfill the desires of the flesh and of the mind, we allow him to use them to his own glory, then we begin to live indeed; for his life is allowed free course in us. It is not held down with our unrighteousness, but, with our wills yielded to him, it flows up from the fountain of life, as a well of water springing up into everlasting life. This is what it is to know him indeed.
