The Word, Not Men

The Word, Not Men.—As stated above, the inspiration is of the word, not of the man, or the writer. It is nowhere said that the man is inspired. In an accommodated sense we speak of inspired men, as men through whom God has spoken, but it is not a Bible expression. The word is inspired—God-breathed—the men are moved upon by the Holy Ghost. In the world it is men that are exalted, but in the Scriptures it is the word which God breathed through them.
