Sunday Law Efforts Gain Ground in Indiana
The Sunday-law people are making rigorous efforts all along the line. Indiana papers are discussing the matter, and prominent papers, like the Indianapolis News, favor the enforcement of the law, and wish that the liquor men would carry out their threat to enforce the law on every one who works or barters on Sunday. The News thinks, however, that, while railways, saloons, barber shops, professional baseball, would stop or close, “amateur baseball, picnics, outings of all kinds, patronage of the Sunday-morning butcher shop or grocery store for a reasonable time, or all-day Sunday lunch rooms, would not be interfered with.” But when the ultimate is reached, these will be forced to succumb also, as well as daily papers. However, the only classes materially affected thus far are quiet, God-fearing Sabbath-keepers.
