Bell's Series of Bible Lessons For Sabbath Schools Full Set Complete

This series of Sabbath-school lessons, bound in eight neat little volumes, was prepared with a view to present to the younger students of the Sabbath-school a consecutive chain of Biblical events, from the creation onward, in language adapted to their comprehension. The style of the author is simple and instructive, and the moral lessons to be drawn from the recorded events are naturally presented, or so suggested that the conclusion is reached by the pupil almost of his own accord.
The lessons are “progressive,” not only from their progression in the order of events, but from the fact that they are graded to correspond with the usual growth and advancement of the pupils intellectually as the study proceeds.
No. 1, ADAM TO MOSES.—Adapted to the capacity of the youngest pupil. Its language is very simple, and the first five lessons are introduced by notes to the teacher concerning the methods of imparting instruction to very young children. These hints are based upon the experience of the author, whose observations in a lifetime of school work enabled him to present in a few words that which is of very great value to those who have to deal with young children in our Sabbath schools. 84 pages. Price, 15 cts.
No. 2, EGYPT TO CANAAN.—A continuation of No. 1, in a style for pupils more advanced, and opening with a review of No. 1, for the benefit of the pupils who have not studied that book. 120 pages. Price, 20 cts.
No. 3, MOSES TO SOLOMON.—With a series of maps, and other new and interesting features. 132 pages. Price, 25 cts.
No. 4, FROM THE BEGINNING OF SOLOMON'S REIGN TO THE REBUILDING OF THE TEMPLE AFTER THE CAPTIVITY.—This volume is one of the most interesting of the series, introducing the splendor of Solomon's court, his wealth, wisdom, and glory, his illustrious visitors, and their comments on what they saw and heard. This is succeeded by a brief notice of all the kings of Judah and Israel, the final downfall of both kingdoms, the captivity of the Jews, their return to Jerusalem, and the rebuilding of the temple. 162 pages. Price, 25 cts.
No. 5, FROM THE REBUILDING OF THE TEMPLE BY ZERUBBABEL TO THE SENDING OUT OF THE TWELVE DISCIPLES BY THEIR LORD.—This number brings the student to the close of the Old Testament and the opening of the New, thus connecting the two dispensations, and showing their intimate relations. It includes the early life of Christ. 172 pages. Price, 25 cts.
No. 6, FROM THE SENDING OUT OF THE TWELVE DISCIPLES TO THE WEEK OF OUR LORD'S PASSION.—174 pages. Price, 25 cts.
No. 7, FROM OUR LORD'S LAST PASSOVER TO THE SENDING OUT OF PAUL AND BARNABAS TO THE GENTILES.—101 pages. Price, 20 cts.
No. 8, THE ACTS OF THE APOSTLES.—This book contains 69 lessons, adapted to advanced pupils. 131 pages. Price, 20 cts.
THE FULL SET.—For some time in the past we have not been able to furnish Numbers 1 and 4 of this series, but we have just secured a good supply of these numbers, and can fill orders for the full set, from 1–8.

The Best Bible Translation The Revised Standard American Edition

It is quite generally conceded that the Revised American Standard Edition is the best translation now published. The following quotations express the general opinion of all those who have examined this translation:—
“By remarkably unanimous consent America now possesses the most excellent translation of the Holy Scriptures ever published in the English tongue. There has been neither party nor faction discernible in the welcome paid by Biblical scholarship to the American revision of the Bible.” —The Interior.
“There can be no doubt that in this version we are nearer the thought, and, therefore, the spirit of the Master than in any other version now existing in English.” —Northwestern Christian Advocate.

Christian Temperance and Bible Hygiene

This book is in two parts, nicely bound in one volume of 268 pages, 6 x 9 inches. “Christian Temperance” was written by Mrs. E. G. White, and “Bible Hygiene” by Elder James White.
As early as 1860 Mrs. White began writing a series of articles on the subject of health, and these commanded such earnest consideration that thousands changed their entire way of living, and their constant demand led to the publication of these articles in book form.
“Christian Temperance and Bible Hygiene” is therefore a compilation of the early writings of Mrs. White upon the subject of health and temperance. To them have been added several chapters by Elder James White, on Bible hygiene, with an account of the experiences of Elders J. N. Andrews and Joseph Bates. These early experiences are not only intensely interesting, but very practical.
The purpose of this volume was to gather into a condensed form writings which were scattered through various volumes, and some that had never before appeared in print, so that the writings of Mrs. White upon this subject might reach as large a number as possible of those for whom they were especially intended.
The price of this book is $1.35 in the plain, and $1.60 in the gilt, postpaid. Order of the Review and Herald Publishing Co., Battle Creek, Mich.

The Scriptural Foundation of Science

Three hundred are nearly all the copies of “Scriptural Foundations of Science” now on hand at the Review Office. The first edition of the book is almost exhausted. It may be some time before another edition will be issued, if at all. You should order at once if you want a copy.
The following is copied from the International Sunday School Evangel, written in review of this book, by a Methodist minister, one of the leading Sunday-school workers of America:—
“For a score of years the reviewer has known the author of this really unique little book. Close by the tools of his profession could always be found his well-conned Bible, and his life has been a noble illustration of the blending of scholarly investigation with the humdrum of daily toil. In Bible study he is a literalist after the manner of Mr. Moody or Dr. Munhall, but he goes beyond these men in shrewd and original study of science at first hand. He is a young man, original in matter and method, and though a reader of many books, has set before himself the motto of Wesley, ‘Homo unius libri.’ That one book is his Bible. Here is the thesis about which his book centers: ‘We are sure that God has made, in the Word, a complete revelation of the principles of all truth. . . . We do not except the truths of mathematics or science, or any other study whatsoever, and say, “The Bible does not speak of that.” The Spirit is given us to guide us into all truth, and this it does by means of the Word; and, therefore, all truth is in the Word.’ And then, in sixteen chapters he writes strongly and helpfully to any devout student of ‘Scientific Theories,’ ‘The Air,’ ‘Gravitation,’ ‘The Conservation of Energy,’ ‘The Reign of Law,’ and kindred subjects, until, as one lays down the book and takes up again his Bible, he is wondering if, after all, the ‘Oracles of God’ do not contain the last word of science as well as of religion. Practically, the book, by its copious scientific illustrations of the Bible, will be of much value to all Bible teachers.”
The book contains 272 pages, nearly 100 illustrations, and is beautifully bound in specially designed cover; 75 cents postpaid.
