SABBATH, March 1, was a good day for the Oakland Church. For some time past we have been giving a series of expository discourses on the Letter to the Hebrews, on Sabbath mornings. These have proved interesting and profitable to the church. Last Sabbath our lesson began at verse 14 of chapter 10. For special reasons we dwelt particularly on verse 23. In the afternoon about one hundred repaired to the Alameda Beach, at the foot of Grand Street, where baptism was administered to four adults—one brother and three sisters. And others are expecting to be baptized soon; all the result of missionary work by the church in this city. Much more of this work should be done. A series of Sabbath afternoon meetings has been commenced in the office, for the special benefit of those laboring here. From these we expect much good.
