In a far away country, so long ago, The boys and girls of that older time Had the very best playmate that ever was known, Better, I’m sure, than yours or mine.
His face grew sad for another’s woe, Or was wet with tears for another’s pain; But never a blow nor an unkind word Was answered by him with its kind again.
