Astonishment at the Miracle

THE astonishment at the miracle is expressed in strong terms; they were filled with amazement at that which had happened. The word translated "amazement," and from which our word ecstacy is derived, denotes being out of one's head from astonishment or other cause, and is found five times in Matthew and Mark, and eleven times in Luke's writings.—President Woolsey.
