Letter from Bennington, N.H. on Faith and Sabbath

BRO. L. MARTIN writes from Bennington, N. H.: Surely the end of all things is near at hand. This I have no doubt of. The condition of the world is fast growing worse. In 1844 I was strongly impressed that “faith without works is dead, being alone;” and I cannot give it up yet. In 1845 I embraced the idea that the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord our God, and I cannot give that up. Let us believe God’s word, and not be turned from the truth unto fables. Satan is busy. He will deceive us if he can. May we not be ignorant of his devices. My health and the health of my companions are quite poor. It is seldom that we get out to meeting, but we have the REVIEW, Reformer, and Instructor, to read, which affords us a great deal of comfort and satisfaction. I think they grow better and better. Praise the Lord. May the Lord bless the dear watchmen, and help them to be faithful to the end. I rejoice to read reports from our dear Bro. Bates, who has long been in the service. May God bless and keep him. Let us all be faithful and do our whole duty, that we may win the prize at last. Soon Jesus will come.
