THE work in Oakland is in a prosperous condition, though very little labor is being done. The Sabbath meetings are attended by new and interested hearers, whose attention has been called to the truth by missionary work. Some are deciding in favor of the truth.
There is an effort being made by the missionary society to extend its labors and make them more efficient. The importance of corresponding with those to whom the SIGNS are sent has been under consideration, and a committee was appointed to examine letters and to assist the inexperienced in writing. This, it is hoped, will be productive of good results. Many who cannot work to advantage or profit might do good service in the cause if they were properly instructed, and would improve and thereby increase their talents.
We are hoping for a series of meetings in this city this winter or the coming spring. The Sabbath meetings are doing good, but more frequent meetings are needed for the benefit of interested ones. EDITOR.
