What Was It?

On my return from Traverse, Mich., while waiting for the train at Howard City, I learned from the doctors, that at Coral, the next station south, in Montcalm Co., there were about forty cases of sickness caused by eating headcheese. Some came very near dying. The M. D.'s could not tell what it was. It did not act like poison, but made all sick that ate of it. What was it? It would be rather unpleasant to the refined appetite to suggest stewed worms prepared into such a lordly dish. But it does look as if the disease must have been very near that swine before he was made into cheese, worms or not. But people must eat, and being unable to conceive of any other use for the swine, they dispose of him in that way. P. STRONG.
