Sorrows, Joys, and Other Matters.

In consequence of having most perplexing matters thrown into our hands from Battle Creek for a few weeks past, we have suffered great depression and failing health, so that we could not write for the September Reformer, nor continue the subject of White Robes for this week’s REVIEW.
But the Lord has heard the voice of our supplications for health and freedom, and has visited us in great mercy. As we are permitted to come very near the Lord in prayer for the deceived and erring, we are strongly impressed that an important crisis in the cause is just upon us. The Lord is in earnest with his people, to correct and save them; and it is time that we were all in earnest for ourselves in seeking his favor.
Those who wish to send the REVIEW to their friends six months for fifty cents will please bear in mind that we are arranging subjects for the REVIEW for that very six months, with the design to have all such subscribers commence about the first of November. Get your lists of names and your money ready in season to forward to the Office, so that all such can commence at that time.
We call especial attention to the lengthy article relative to the progress of the cause, in this week’s REVIEW.
Mrs. White is enjoying excellent health, and has great freedom in writing. Testimony to the Church No. 23 will soon be ready for the press. It will be an important work, to meet present wants and the coming crisis.
Fruit in Colorado bears a heavy price. Apples and pears sell for 20 cents a pound; peaches, 30. Dried berries are 50 cents a pound; peaches, 35; apples, 25. Those of our friends in Michigan who propose to donate dried fruit, dried sweet corn, &c., can take it with them to Battle Creek at the time of the camp-meeting, where it can be shipped to Black Hawk, Colorado. A few barrels of winter apples would come well by-and-by if shipped to us the last of October or the first of November.
