School Term Opens with Strong Enrollment and Curriculum
By Uriah Smith
The present term of school opened very encouragingly the 15th. There are one hundred and ten scholars, and between thirty and forty different classes. The studies, so far introduced, are, the Hebrew, Greek, Latin, French, and German, languages; physiology, philosophy, rhetoric, algebra, book-keeping, grammar, arithmetic, geography, penmanship, reading and spelling, besides Bible lessons in all departments, and the Biblical lectures for the more advanced. Those who are pursuing the higher branches seem disposed to make their work a matter of earnest effort, and the prospect is good that all that has been hoped touching the efficiency and usefulness of the school, will be fully realized.
