The Christian’s Pocket and the Gospel

The question of Presbyterian and Baptist generosity as evidenced by the amounts given by each denomination respectively, is being discussed in some quarters, and we think quite profitlessly so. The Baptists outnumber the Presbyterians, but the Presbyterians have the larger balances in bank, and, therefore, give more. This comparing of ourselves among ourselves leads to pharisaism and develops false pride. The fact is no denomination gives the half it might and should give. The Christian's pocket seems to be the last thing to come under the power of the gospel.
