THE labors of Brn. Hutchins and Evans in this place are not without their good results. Several men of standing and influence have renounced the filthy habit of chewing tobacco, and we cherish the hope that some of them will yet embrace and live out the whole truth. When an expression was called for on the Sabbath question, there was only one vote given in favor of Sunday, while quite a full one was obtained in favor of the seventh day. When it was asked who in the congregation wanted salvation, and were willing to comply with the conditions of salvation, there was one, a lady of intelligence and moral worth, who had courage to rise upon her feet, and by this act say that she was willing to obey God. She has since expressed a desire to be baptized.
Several have subscribed for our paper, who are reading and investigating, not being satisfied with their present position. We hope they will not too long resist the Spirit of God, which is saying to them, “This is the way; walk ye in it.”
