Abraham Rightly Called a Patriarch

Not long since the World’s Crisis contained an article by a well-accepted minister of their denomination in which the writer ridiculed a preacher of another denomination because he called Abraham a patriarch, he affirming that the title belonged only to the twelve sons of Jacob. But Paul, in Heb. 7:4, says, “the patriarch Abraham,” and the meaning of the word fully justifies the application. It is said to be not well to be wise above that which is written; but in this case the writer was wise against that which is written.
