Cyclone Devastates Indianola and Galveston, Texas

The N. Y. Sun of Sept. 22 gives a terrific account of the devastating work of a cyclone in Texas, by which the town of Indianola was laid in ruins. About one hundred and fifty lives were lost, and the village with a population numbering some twelve hundred is nearly swept away. Only three houses remain free from damage. The corpses were strewed for twenty miles on the beach of Matagorda Bay. The same storm completely submerged Galveston Island with the loss of many lives and a great amount of property.
