S. A. P., Oswego, N. Y.: The position of S. D. Adventists upon Genesis 1 is that at the beginning of the first six days of time the matter of this earth was brought into existence from nothing; that the days mentioned are literal days of 24 hours each, measured by the revolution of the earth upon its axis; that the sun and moon and stars (of our solar system) were not created upon the fourth day, but brought into existence at the same time with our earth, but on the fourth day were made the “light bearers,” as the original signifies. We see no necessity for supposing that the record in Genesis goes beyond our solar system. The pretensions of science, so-called, in opposition to these plain statements of the Bible, are simply guess-work, pure, and unadulterated.
