A New Engine.

When the first power press was purchased for this Office in 1857, it was for a while operated by hand. Then a 2½ horse power engine was procured, under the impression that that was all the power which would ever be needed for the business of the Office. This, however, subsequently gave place to a larger engine of four horse power, as it was needed to meet an increase of presses. But now the work has so grown upon our hands, and the prospect of future increase is so apparent, that the Association is putting in a new boiler and engine from the Jackson Foundry and Machine Works, of fifteen horse power, capable of running ten presses if necessary. It will be in place, and, we expect, in operation, the present week. U. S.
