HOW IS IT?

As I have looked upon the arduous labors, and the incessant toil, of our dear Bro. and Sr. White, I have been led to inquire, How is it that they have lived so many years, under such heavy burdens, and weighty responsibilities? I have long known that their labors were very abundant, but not until our last camp-meeting did I realize this. Certainly they should be very highly esteemed in love by God's people, for their work's sake.
There is but one way that I can answer the question, and that is that God gives them strength according to their day and need. Having the mind and hands filled with business, hurried from one thing to another, they yet, at almost a moment's notice break off and address hundreds of people, upon the blessed truths of the holy Bible, and that, too, with clearness and power. This can be explained in no other way than that God is leading and strengthening them.
May God pity and forgive all who unnecessarily add to their labor. For one, I feel resolved to do my work better in everything, that I may stay up the hands of those who have the oversight of all the churches.
H. A. ST. JOHN.
